Characteristics of the MRCC


Very compact
  • Work transmitted directly (no rod-and-shank system)
Slow engine
  • Normal running speed 1000 to 1500 rpm for power output of 30 to 50 HP
No distribution system, no vertical-stroke valve
  • Simple rotary slide valve turning at constant speed
Gas intake in cold zone of stator, combustion in hot zone
  • Better filling of combustion chamber
  • Can be run on hydrogen
Direct or indirect injection
  • Fuel can be injected into the slide valve or directly into the intake zone. The familiar problems of direct injection into the combustion chamber are eliminated because the injection phase occurs in the cold, low-pressure part of the stator.
Variable compression ratio depending on engine speed and load
  • The hydraulic synchronisation system produces a variable compression ratio depending on engine speed and load. These variations, which constitute the engine's "intrinsic behaviour", are very favourable for both combustion and yield, especially when the unit is running as partial load.
